Architecture defines both the process and product of planning, designing and constructing buildings.
Right from the Mesopotamian era architecture has been excelling. Ever since the dawn of mankind we have been curious towards making structures that both benefits and excites the mass.

Located in the Sante Fe neighbourhood of Mexico City, locally known as ‘La Lavadore’ (the washing machine) Calakmul Corporate Building was constructed in 1997 on what had been a junkyard before the city government reclaimed it and developed into an affluent business district.
The architecture was designed by architect Augstin Hernanadez Navarro. It was constructed to honor the Mayan from whom the name Calakmul derives and included elements that represent the earth and the sky.
This complex structure consists of two separate modernist buildings
- The nine-storey washing machine esque structure
- The adjacent pyramidal structure

The Kettle House resembles a tea kettle built by Clayton E. Stokley a World War II Veteran.
He was a talented welder and shop forman at Graver Tank & Manufacturing Co. in Pasadena in the late 1960s.
The original intent of the Kettle House was to serve as a drive up convenience and liquor store.
It has stood stoically in the same place in the Gulf coast shoreline in Galveston for about nearly 50 years withstanding hurricanes that comes its way only with a little rust that has adorns the beautiful little structure.

The Nakagin Capsule Tower located in Shimbashi, Tokyo, Japan designed by architect Kisho Kurokawa is a mixture of residential and office tower.
The building was constructed in 1970 and was completed in just 30 days. The structure stands as an excellent example of Japanese Metabolism, an architectural movement emblematic of Japan’s postwar cultural resurgence.

The Mind House in Barcelona, Spain is a popular work of the famous architect Gaudi. Located just a few steps from Gracia, the Mind House stands on a hill in the suburb of Vallacarca.
The house consists of three floors and an attic. It’s roof us studded and painted in a checked white and grey pattern.

Case do Penedo is and architectural monument built out of four large boulders that serve as the foundation, walls and ceiling of the house.
Located between Celorico de Basto and Fafe in northern Portugal.
The engineer who built the structure was from Guimaraes and the construction of the structure had started in 1972 and completed in 1974, a span of two years.

Located in Hellam Township, Pennsylvania the Haines Shoe House is a shoe shaped house about two miles west of the borough of Hallam.
Inspired by a work boot the architecture was built by Mahlon Haines in 1948 as a form of advertisement for his shoe business.
The house is 25 feet (7.6 m) tall and contains 5 storeys, had been once rented to a couple and now is open for public visits.

This strange farmer house was built in 1970 by design of Swiss-origin architect Pascal Hausermann (1936-2011) .
Located near Chambery in the French Alps the Weird House includes four levels in this 110 m² floor area house.
The first and the second levels include kitchen, dining room, three bedrooms and a bathroom.

Also known as Sanzhi pod houses or Sanzhi Pod City were a set of abandoned and never completed pod-shaped buildings.
Located in the Sanzhi District, New Taipei, Taiwan, the buildings resembled Futuro houses.

Located in the corner of Montrose Boulevard and Willard Street in Houston, Texas the project was also known as the ‘Inversion’ project. It was the work of two Houston sculptors Dan Havel and Dean Ruck.

The Ryugyong Hotel is an unfinished 105 storey 330m tall pyramid-shaped skyscraper in Pyongyang in North Korea.
The building is also known as 105 Buildings a reference to the number of floors. It is currently listed in the Guinness World of Records.

11. The National Library, Minsk, Belarus

The National Library of Belarus is the biggest library in the Republic of Belarus.
The library is located in Minsk, the capital of Belarus and houses largest collection of Belarusian printed materials and the third largest collection of books in Russia.
