Why Should You Use Corrosion-Resistant TMT Bar?
TMT (Thermo Mechanically Treated) bars are newly born, technologically improved version of TOR steel. The latter was used before the invention of the TMT bars.
Twisting operations is not involved in the manufacturing process of TMT bars. The absence of this residual stress increases the corrosion-resistant property of the TMT bars.
Here are 3 important reasons why you should use corrosion-resistant TMT bars:
- Unlike the TOR steel that gets easily corroded in the concrete because of the existence of chloride ions, TMT bars do not get easily corroded because of the improved technology.
- Along with being corrosion resistant, TMT bars are also fire-resistant.
The boast of high thermal stability can resist temperatures ranging from 400 to 600 degree Celsius. - TMT bars also have a superior bonding strength.
There are external ribs along the entire length of the bars: these help foster great bonding strength between the concrete/cement and the bar.
